PokerStars SCOOP Series Awards $2.3M to Michigan Players

PokerStars reported a successful tournament in Michigan, joining Pennsylvania and New Jersey with strong Spring Championship of Online Poker events.

The three series managed to award $6.35 million, exceeding the original guarantee of $5.2 million.

Michigan had more than 40,000 online poker entries across 120 tournaments with $2.3 million awarded to players across the state, exceeding the original $2.2 million guaranteed prize pool.

The Main Event of the series drew 871 entries for a total prize pool of $243,880. "Stozypokes" was victorious in the Main Event, earning $41,074.16. Stozypokes also won a MISCOOP Sunday Marathon event for $2,650.

"Healybuck2021" earned a spot in the MISCOOP Main Event from a depositor freeroll before earning a third-place finish in the Main Event for a total prize of $20,965.

"Dublistic" was one of the top winners for the series, earning four MISCOOP titles.

New Jersey, Pennsylvania Figures

Pennsylvania had the highest participation and prize pool of the three states. There were over 47,000 entries across 41 events for the PASCOOP, with $2.6 million awarded after the original prize pool was set at $2 million.

The two-day Main Event garnered 1,015 entries and a total prize pool of $284,200. ‘Kingboss93’ earned first prize in the Main Event, winning $46,410.

New Jersey attracted more than 26,000 entries over 163 tournaments with $1.36 million in total prize pools awarded, exceeding the original $1.2 million guarantee.

The Main Event saw 391 entries where a final table deal was made between two opponents. ‘TrashNinja00’ ended up taking first prize along with $18,183.19.

Second PokerStars Series in Michigan

The MISCOOP was PokerStars’ second series in Michigan. During March 6-7, the poker company hosted the Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP). The MICOOP marked the first poker series since the state launched its mobile sports betting and internet casino platforms on Jan. 22.

Similar to the spring series, the MICOOP exceeded its original guarantee of $1 million due to the number of players signing up and taking part. PokerStars ended up distributing $2,208,327 in prize money.

“Throughout the series, we were blown away by the overwhelming support from the poker community in Michigan,” PokerStars Associate Director of Consumer Engagement and Public Relations Rebecca McAdam Willetts said in a news release. “We are very encouraged by the success of our inaugural MICOOP and look forward to hosting future poker events for Michigan players.”
