Just over a month ago, the Detroit Pistons announced sports betting deals with DraftKings and FanDuel. On Tuesday, the Pistons continued to bolster their gaming partnerships after PointsBet announced it has become an official sports betting partner with the team.

The agreement will allow PointsBet to utilize the Detroit Pistons IP and logos, and will provide sponsorship opportunities and brand exposure across the team’s digital and social assets, according to a news release.

“PointsBet is thrilled to partner with the Pistons, aligning with a first-class organization supported by particularly passionate fans,” Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA chief executive officer, said in the release. “We’re proud to increase our investment in the Detroit and greater Michigan sports community after joining forces with the Detroit Tigers last July. Michigan is a fantastic sports state, and we look forward to the opportunity to soon serve Michigan sports bettors on a personalized platform with unrivaled speed and ease of use.”

As part of the agreement, former Pistons All-Star Rip Hamilton will serve as a brand ambassador and a central figure for PointsBet’s Detroit and Michigan-based sports betting products, the release said.

PointsBet plans to use Hamilton’s basketball background and knowledge of the Detroit fanbase to bolster the betting experience for its clients.

“My love for Michigan and the city of Detroit is no secret,” Hamilton said. “I’m incredibly excited to join the PointsBet team and help usher in the fastest, most premium sports betting experience to the best fans in sports. What’s not to love?”

Pistons 2nd team in Michigan for PointsBet

The Pistons are the second team in Michigan to become affiliated with PointsBet. In July, the Detroit Tigers announced their deal with the Australian-founded sports betting company. Fans can expect to see PointsBet branding at games and during broadcasts this season.

"We are thrilled to welcome PointsBet as a gaming partner of the Detroit Tigers," said Chris Granger, group president for sports & entertainment at Ilitch Holdings, Inc., when the deal was announced. "Our incredible fans will love the unique experiences and innovative offerings that PointsBet's personalized platform provides. We look forward to the fan-friendly enhancements this will bring to the game-day experience in and around Comerica Park for years to come."

PointsBet third operator to join Pistons

In late November, the Pistons announced their first sports betting deals with FanDuel and DraftKings. Similar to the PointsBet partnership, DraftKings and FanDuel’s agreement includes marketing assets such as in-arena signage, television and digital advertising and a TV and radio presence.

The Pistons also partnered with MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. The land-based casino plans on offering unique game-day experiences at its newly designed FanDuel Sportsbook. On game days, fans can expect giveaways, exclusive viewing parties and other innovative experiences to enhance the sports betting experience.
