FOX Bet, Barstool Casino and PokerStars are the latest operators to join Michigan’s online casino gaming and mobile sports betting offerings.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board approved the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, PokerStars, Greektown Casino and Penn Sports Interactive/Barstool Casino for online gaming. PokerStars and FOX Bet went live at 11 a.m. today, while Barstool’s online casino will debut on Monday at 11 a.m.

“We welcome the addition of Odawa Casino, PokerStars, FOX Bet and Barstool Casino to Michigan’s growing online gaming and sports wagering market,” Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director, said in a media release. “Their participation will generate revenue to support education, tribal communities and the city of Detroit.”

Through its partnership with the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, PokerStars will be the first provider in the state to offer peer-to-peer poker games online. And while Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed multi-jurisdictional poker into law, it is not in effect and cannot start until Michigan reaches agreements with other states. The MGCB would need to find other states willing to form a compact with Michigan. As it stands, the only current poker compact is between Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware.

FOX Bet Joins Michigan, Barstool Debuts Casino

Fox Bet becomes the latest to offer sports betting in Michigan after DraftKings, FanDuel, Barstool, TwinSpires, Golden Nugget, Bet MGM, WynnBet, PointsBet, William Hill and Bet Rivers launched last week.

Michigan becomes the fourth state for FOX Bet, which is already active in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Colorado. Prior to going live in Michigan, FOX Bet’s most recent launch came in Colorado on May 19, 2023.

FOX Bet is currently offering a free $100 for new players who register on its website and make a deposit.

For Barstool, it was one of the 10 providers to launch their sports betting platform during Michigan’s online debut. However, along with PointsBet, Barstool’s casino was not ready in time for the initial launch. But now the popular online brand will be able to offer both its sportsbook and casino games to Michiganders.

As it stands, PointsBet remains the only provider to offer only sports betting and not an online casino.
