Michigan players now have a new online casino option.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has approved the Gun Lake Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan and platform partner Parx Interactive to launch their online casino gaming brand, Gun Lake/Parx.

"We welcome the addition of Gun Lake Casino and partner Parx to Michigan's growing online gaming market of 13 operators and providers," Richard S. Kalm, MGCB executive director, said in a news release on April 23. "Their participation will generate revenue to support education, economic development and the Gun Lake Band's tribal community."

The Gun Lake Band and Parx will be authorized to offer sports betting in the future once it meets the regulatory requirements from the MGCB. There are 11 other operators and providers who run both online casino gaming and internet sports betting, while PointsBet is the lone operator that offers just sports betting.

The Parx Casino brand is well-known in Pennsylvania. For March, Parx Casinos topped the March total revenue charts in Pennsylvania, reporting $61.4 million in total revenue for the month. Parx also led the way in March sslot ($36.7 million) and table revenue ($16.6 million) to account for the majority of its revenue for the month.

As for the online market in March, Parx was fifth with $6.1 million in revenue for March.

But establishing itself in March will likely be a challenge for the Pennsylvania-based Parx. The brand is relatively unknown in Michigan and will launch its branded online casino after its competitors have had over two months to establish themselves.

BetMGM, FanDuel and DraftKings accounted for $66.8 million of the total $95.1 million of online casino revenue for March in Michigan. That total from those three brands is nearly 70% of the state’s total online casino revenue for the month.

Parx’s $6.1 million of online casino revenue for the month in its home state is also far off from BetMGM, FanDuel and DraftKings. BetMGM eclipsed the $30 million mark for the first time with $30.8 million in March revenue, while FanDuel reported $19 million and DraftKings had $16.6 million.

Parx Online Casino Features Popular Games

The Parx online casino gaming catalog in Pennsylvania features numerous familiar titles Michigan players will know. On its featured games webpage, Parx lists Jumanji, Mad Mad Monkey, Wheel of Fortune, Cleopatra, Cats, Blackjack and more.

In Pennsylvania, the Parx online casino has an iOS app that is available on the Apple Store and an app on Google Play.

If Parx follows a similar rollout in Michigan, players in the state can expect to use Parx’s mobile app when the platform officially launches.
