The first major poker championship in Michigan is coming on Feb. 20.

FOX Bet and PokerStars announced the first Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) and it will feature a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

“Coming off the launch of our real-money gaming brands in Michigan, it is clear that players want the world-class offerings that only PokerStars can bring,” said FOX Bet CEO Kip Levin. “As the sole online and mobile poker product in Michigan, our commitment and investment in PokerStars are vital as we aim to bring all aspects of a great customer experience to the poker community. We are excited for Michiganders to join our most popular series and crown our first big winner who will join in the prestigious footsteps of other Championship Of Online Poker (COOP) champions.”

PokerStars officially went live in Michigan on Jan. 29 and remains the sole online poker provider in the state. PokerStars and FOX Bet are partnered with Odawa Casino, which is operated by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. FOX Bet is the mobile sports betting partner with Odawa, while the tribe's market access also includes an online casino.

Details of MICOOP

The MICOOP series will include at least 50 tournaments of different types with buy-ins ranging from $20 to $500, in addition to satellites as low as $2. The series begins on Feb. 20 and runs to March 8. It will culminate with a two-day, $300 buy-in Main Event on March 7-8 with a guaranteed prize pool of $125,000. Other notable events include the $500 high roller and a Mini-Main Event with a $50 buy-in. There will also be numerous game varieties including Progressive Knockout Tournaments, Pot Limit Omaha and other mixed games.

In addition to satellite events, players can win entry to the MICOOP series via other free and low-cost routes.

Players can deposit $30 or more and get a ticket to the MICOOP Depositor Freeroll on March 7 where 35 Main Event seats will be handed out.

There will also be Second Chance Freerolls where if players take part in a MICOOP event and fail to make the cash, they will receive a ticket to a second chance freeroll.

To take part in the MICOOP series, players must register at PokerStars. Registration is free, and from there, users will be able to partake in cash games, daily tournaments, and a tournament series such as the MICOOP.
