The Detroit Tigers have added to their sports betting partnerships.

On Wednesday, the organization announced an agreement with BetMGM on a multi-year sports betting sponsorship deal. The partnership will include BetMGM branding on scoreboards throughout Comerica Park, fan-focused promotions, integrated social media content and more.

This is the Tigers’ second sports betting sponsorship. The organization became the first MLB team to reach a deal with a gaming company when it announced its partnership with PointsBet in July.

The TIgers open the 2024 MLB season Thursday at home against the Cleveland Indians.

“We’re excited to expand our relationship with BetMGM to feature the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Park,” Peter Kent, Tigers senior vice president of corporate partnerships, said in a news release. “Our fans will enjoy the enhancements this partnership provides to their experience, both at the ballpark and in rooting on the Tigers from home.”

The deal means fans can expect to see BetMGM integrated across the Tigers’ digital and social platforms, including the MLB Ballpark app. BetMGM signage will be featured throughout Comerica Park and on the out-of-town scoreboard and the speed pitch LED board, the release said.

“From day one, it’s been a priority for us to develop deep relationships with Michigan’s beloved sports teams,” BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said in the release. “We look forward to our partnership with the Detroit Tigers and engaging with their fan base to offer best-in-class promotions and benefits only available on BetMGM.”

MGM One of Top Brands in Michigan

MGM is already a prominent brand in Michigan. MGM Grand Detroit regularly has the highest market share of the three Detroit casinos. In 2023, BetMGM held 41% of the revenue market share for $257.1 million.

“The Detroit Tigers are a central part of the Michigan sports scene and bring an undeniable energy to the city,” David Tsai, president of the Midwest Group for MGM Resorts, said in a media release. “MGM Grand Detroit is ready to welcome Tigers and sports betting fans to our BetMGM Sports Lounge before, during, and after games for an innovative and exciting experience.”

MGM’s online offering in Michigan, BetMGM, has consistently been one of the most-used sportsbooks and online casinos since the state launched its mobile sports betting and online casino gaming platforms.

In February, BetMGM Sportsbook recorded $26.9 million in revenue from its online casino, making it the only operator to eclipse the $20 million mark. FanDuel was second at $16.5 million.

On the online sportsbook side, BetMGM had the second-highest handle in February at $75.7 million, trailing only FanDuel, which reported $87.2 million.
