A Brief History of Utah Online Gambling
Gambling has always been banned in the state of Utah, and there are no casinos available within the state. Utah also has laws in place that restrict social gambling, and there can be some pretty serious punishment involved for anyone that is caught doing any sort of gambling.
Most states don’t necessarily have a law in place that prohibits online gambling, but it is rather just assumed. That’s not the case in Utah, as an amendment was made to the constitution in 2012 prohibiting all online gambling.
With such a law in place, it doesn’t seem reasonable to expect the laws to change anytime soon. This is not a state that has residents making a push for online gambling, and lawmakers aren’t going to attempt to make any changes.
Utah Online Gambling: The Current Law
Most states have differing views when it comes to in-person and online betting, but that is not the case in Utah. All forms of gambling are prohibited, and this state doesn’t even have a lottery.

If sports betting were to be legal in Utah, the NBA would likely be the most popular betting market. Salt Lake City is home to the Utah Jazz, and that team is very popular in the state.
The NFL is a big betting market throughout the US, and this is another sport that would attract action. Until the state changes the laws, bettors will have to travel out of the state to bet on these sporting events.
