The Gun Lake Casino in Wayland has opened its doors to a renovated gaming space and other amenities for Michigan casino wagering.

Fans of casino gaming and MI sports betting at the facility can take advantage of a large sportsbook area, more slots and more gaming tables.

In all, the $100 million upgrade at Gun Lake Casino added more than 76,000 feet to the gaming space, including 450 slot machines and 12 table games.

Profile of Casino Expansion

According to Gun Lake Casino’s website, the gambling space now has room for more than 2,500 slots, the 131 Sportsbook (operating daily from noon to 10 p.m.) and 47 gaming tables.

In addition to the improvements and added space for MI gambling, the project also added restaurant and stage space, a second non-smoking parlor, and a new entrance on the south side of the facility, according to Lansing CBS affiliate WLNS-TV.

Plans are also underway for Gun Lake to build a $300 million hotel now that the casino project is finished.

Busy Time for Gun Lake

In August, Gun Lake opened its online sports betting operation with platform provider Parx Interactive.

As for coronavirus protocols, the casino requires masks for bettors and staff members inside the casino, regardless of vaccination status, in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

During a decade of operation, the casino, under the auspices of the Gun Lake Tribe, has shared more than $150 million in revenue with local and state governments.
