Playtech Announces Opening of Live Casino Studio in Michigan

One of the first live casinos in the United States will be housed in Michigan.

On Monday, Playtech announced it has secured a long-term lease for its first live casino studio in the country. The studio is in Southfield, which the company claims is one of the state’s leading technology and innovation hubs and has been approved by a Michigan regulator.

"The new studio in Michigan is the first step in our US Live expansion as we look to deliver Live studios in all regulated states,” Shimon Akad, Chief Operating Officer at Playtech, said in a media release. "Our Michigan studio is being designed to be one of the more sophisticated studios tailored to the U.S. market, featuring innovation and entertainment at its best. The scale of our technology and breadth of our product will allow Playtech to take the live iGaming experience in the U.S. to the next level.”

Playtech’s studio in Michigan will offer integrated live content across retail and online channels, meaning the company can deliver iGaming entertainment in new ways. The studio includes dedicated tables and networked tables with room to grow and support Playtech’s expansion across the country.

According to the news release, Playtech will be offering employment opportunities at the Michigan live casino.

Playtech’s live casino offerings

Live casinos give players a unique online gambling experience. A real-life dealer is recorded as players can sit at any of the tables and place bets, similar to a casino experience. Playtech’s live casino offerings include blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker and more.

According to Playtech’s website, it is the largest live casino supplier in Europe and Asia.

Playtech is partnered with Parx Casino, which gained market access to Michigan through a deal with the Gun Lake Tribe. Parx and the Gun Lake Tribe operate the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland but have not been approved by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to launch their mobile sports betting and online casinos gaming platforms.
