The Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) from PokerStars starts Sept. 10 and goes through Sept. 27. It will have a guaranteed prize pool of $4.5 million across three states with Pennsylvania and New Jersey also joining in the online poker event.
MICOOP will have a $1.5 million prize pool over at least 65 events for Michigan gamblers, according to a news release.
Players in Michigan will be looking to reach the two-day Main Event, each at a $300 buy-in, on Sept. 26. The event will award a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool in Michigan. On top of the Main Event prize, winners in the Main Event will earn trophies. Another six winners in Michigan will receive a trophy as well.
Michigan law allows for interstate poker. It was signed into law in January.
Buy-in Levels, Paths Forward
There are a variety of buy-in levels in the MICOOP with the first starting at $10. Michigan players can win their way to the championship through the following:
- $3 Spin & Go: The three-handed tournament from PokerStars has a random prize pool that awards Main Event satellite tickets until Sept. 26.
- Depositor Freeroll: Players deposit $30 or more and enter the “MICOOP” promo code from until Sept. 26 to get into the COOP Depositor Freeroll which has 50 Main Event seats available.
- Second Chance Freerolls: There is a Second Chance Freeroll for players who don’t make the money. Each freeroll in each state could award $5,000 in COOP tickets.
WCOOP Running Now
The MICOOP will follow the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker that began Aug. 22 and runs through Sept. 15. It features a $100 million guarantee, the series’ largest ever.
PokerStars also held a big Summer Stacks event In Michigan that began June 12 and ran until June 28.
