PokerStars is giving Michigan online poker players a way to celebrate the holidays beginning Monday.
With the first December weekend for holiday shopping and festivities complete across Michigan, PokerStars has a unique tournament kicking off the holiday festivities on Monday. The tournaments will also be available in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The “25 Days of Tournaments” can be played until Dec. 30 with each day having a surprise tournament, according to a news release. The “gift” tournament won’t be included in the regular schedule, but will take place at 7:30 p.m. EST.
To find out what “surprise” is coming on the next day of play, Michigan online poker players must look at the PokerStars’ client at 9 p.m. EST to see what event will be next.
Each event has a two-stake level — a $50 buy-in version and a mini $10 buy-in version to allow players of different levels to play in the tournament, according to the news release.
Players also have the opportunity to earn tournament tickets, Spin & Go tickets and tickets to daily $100 freerolls and weekly $1,000 freerolls in daily PokerStars Chest drops for any players in each state who participate in the “25 Days of Tournaments,” the release said.
PokerStars Offers Video Advice
PokerStars last week introduced “Level Up With Lex” videos to help players if they want to participate in the holiday tournament. The simple poker advice videos from ambassador Lex Veldhuis offer advice based on a player’s real money Spin & Go game, helping to improve their skills and to possibly help them win, the release said.
Data generated by PokerStars’ learning platform, which reads and analyzes hand histories to detect mistakes, will help guide the advice that’s given to players, according to the release.
To create the videos, players need to opt in on “The Rail” in PokerStars' software. The player can view the videos on The Rail or they can be received by the player through email or push notification if they allow poker communication preferences in “settings.”
Fall Tournaments Complete
The PokerStars holiday events will take place in the three states at the same time. In November, PokerStars held Fall Fest 50-50 in Michigan and similar “Fall Fest” tournaments in Pennsylvania and New Jersey from Nov. 20-29.
In addition to the three states with the holiday tournaments, online poker is legal in Nevada, Delaware and West Virginia. Michigan online casino play is also legal.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed the Michigan online interstate poker bill into law late last year. The poker law is projected to increase online poker play and wagering with other states that have legal online poker. Deals with other states need to be worked out.
